Microsoft is continuously working on improving Windows 11 and is increasingly focusing on Artificial Intelligence. The goal is to simplify the operation of the operating system and offer users new possibilities. The integration of AI functions will take place gradually in the coming months, initially for devices with Copilot Plus and within the Windows Insider Program. Later, selected functions will also be made available for AMD and Intel-based PCs.
A central aspect of the AI integration is support in adjusting system settings. An AI agent will help users make desired changes quickly and easily. Instead of navigating through complex menus, users can tell the AI agent via text input which adjustments they want. For example, a user could tell the agent that the font size is too small. The agent would then suggest appropriate adjustment options and could – with the user's consent – also implement the change directly.
AI will also be used in various applications. In the Photos app, for example, AI will facilitate image editing, such as adjusting the lighting. In Paint, AI will enable the creation of stickers and the editing of drawings. For example, users could isolate individual elements of a drawing and have the resulting gaps filled using generative AI.
In File Explorer, AI will assist in summarizing files and editing images. In Notepad, AI will help with creating text drafts and formatting texts.
The "Click to do" function, which is accessed via the key combination Windows key + left click or Windows key + Q, will also be extended. In addition to existing functions such as copying text and creating summaries, "Click to do" will in the future also offer a reading coach that supports the reading aloud of text passages. It will also be possible to create meetings and chats in Microsoft Teams directly from emails.
Microsoft plans to continuously develop the AI integration in Windows 11 and add further functions. The first new features will initially be available to participants in the Windows Insider Program before they are later released to all users. Microsoft hopes that the AI integration will significantly improve user-friendliness and increase productivity for Windows 11 users.
